A moral question

So... our conversation Wednesday made me think of this, and I meant to ask you then, but sadly forgot.

A couple of years ago, long before you waltzed into my life, I was at an absolutely horrible family function with the person I was dating at the time. Lots of cousins, aunts and uncles that even she wasn't sure she knew... which meant I was pretty much emotionally checked out as soon as I walked through the door.

This family was one of the ones that so desperately holds on to the generational divide, to the point where graduation to the adult table only occurs after one gives birth.

Clearly, then, we were relegated to the kids table. Which I don't mind at my own family functions, but when I know I don't really have to care about the youngsters who are going through the phase where it's totally awesome just to say the word 'snickerdoodle' over and over again, I wouldn't mind being able to sit with people who can at least drive a car.

This family ran things in a way where everyone has the same desert, and you get one piece of (in this case German chocolate cake) served to you, rather you want it or not really. The ol' GCC isn't my favorite dessert in the world, and this piece was large enough that there was no way I was going to eat it.

Until, the kid two seats down from me caught on to the fact that I wasn't going to eat it... and then asked for it.

And, well... I ate it. Pretty much just to spite him, the person I was with, and essentially the whole family.

So. That was okay, right? There's nothing wrong with eating the epic piece of cake, even if you don't think you'll like it, just to mock someone else?

Hmmmm... titles?

Cara,

I know I got us started on the "not doing titles" thing, but then I checked the blog and realized I couldn't easily tell where one post ended and the other one began. I think titles might break that up a little bit.

As far as topics go (other than how insane it is that you basically thought the same thing I did, only a few weeks earlier) I think one pressing issue is... who all are we letting in to this amazing blogsperience of ours? Are we keeping it on the D.L., printing up business cards, or somewhere in between?

alex
Alex,

I remember the first time you posted your addiction to that website and believe it or not that was the first clip I watched (and feminist book store shortly there-after).

I thought the exact same thing! I was like, "Wow, I could see Alex and I doing something crazy like that."

So now that we are officially co-blogsters, shall we start a new topic?
Cara,

In the history of ever, I'm not sure there's been anything that sums us up so well.
